Hi, I am in Aberdeen!

Hi y'all,

I kicked off summer with a long flight to Aberdeen. Now, I am studying Thermodynamics among Harry-Potter-like castles and walking to class in dukes-and-duchess walkways. I arrived yesterday, and I am now wrapping up my first day of actual studying. Here are some photos.

It was a long journey from Houston to Aberdeen. I landed in the late afternoon, spent some time exploring the area, and got myself a little Scottish treat in a nearby pub. I ordered some sausages with mashed potatoes, peas, and gravy. It was lovely1. I also ordered tea. My American mind thought it was a cup of tea with a tea bag. I was wrong. The lady brought out a tea set: a nice cup with a saucer, a teapot, milk in a fancy cup, a separate tea bag, assorted sugars, and two courtesy Biscoff biscuits. My American mind was totally blown. It is peculiar to walk into a pub, drinking tea, and eating breakfast at 8 PM. Yes, I was jet-lagged.

The next morning, I had a walk in Seaton Park from the university student residence. There I met a lady in a yellow coat with her dog Alfie. Her dog looks and acts really comical. It zoomed and suddenly stopped in front of things to observe them. Then, Alfie saw me and zoomed towards me. He decided to follow me for a good bit. The lady was trying to call him back. He only decided to come back when I walked off a tad too far, and Alfie was then a bit anxious that he might lose track of his yellow-coat lady.

After the walk, I bought a light chicken curry pie breakfast and headed to class. I am spending the entire month of May in Aberdeen just for Thermodynamics. If you are in town, drop me a message!

Warm regards,

  1. I was about to write "It was nice," but then I remembered I am trying to blend in with the locals.
