Collisions: objects that come in contact with each other
In a collision system, momentum is always conserved, but kinetic energy may or may not be conserved. Kinetic energy can be converted to thermal energy (heat) or internal energy.
Elastic Collisions
- Kinetic energy is conserved
- Total momentum and
Inelastic Collisions:
- Kinetic energy is not conserved
- Shown through deformation of the object.
Perfectly inelastic collisions
A collision where things stick together after the collision
Momentum
For all types and for perfectly inelastic
